Dade City is hill country — the real kind, not a Florida figure of speech. Parcels out here can drop noticeably from one corner to the other, and that elevation change decides everything about the grading. Where the pad sits, how much you cut, how much you fill, and where the water goes when it comes off the hill. You don’t guess at any of that. You read the grade and work it.
A lot of what’s going up around Dade City is barndominiums and big shop buildings, and those need large, dead-level pads on ground that isn’t level anywhere. That means benching into the hillside — cutting the high side, building the low side up in compacted lifts, and finishing with a pad that carries a slab and a steel building without settling. Driveways on these grades get the same treatment: cut into the hill so they climb without washing out.
Yes. That’s a bench cut — we cut into the high side and build the low side up in compacted lifts until the pad is level at the elevation your plans call for. The steeper the ground, the more dirt moves, but slope doesn’t rule out a pad. Text photos to (352) 584-2842 and we’ll look at it.
Pads for a permitted build usually run under the building permit, and Pasco County reviews grading and drainage. Check with Pasco County for your parcel — requirements vary with what you’re building and how much dirt is moving.
