A farm drive in Ocala has to carry more than cars. Horse trailers, feed deliveries, and service trucks run it every week, and a soft drive shakes everything in the trailer. We build long limerock farm drives and entrances for that traffic — Ocala is inside our regular working area.

Marion County farm drives are working roads. The runs are long — across real acreage, past barns and paddocks — and the loads are heavy and regular: a dually pulling a loaded gooseneck, hay deliveries, the farrier, the vet. A base that handles a sedan will pump into ruts and washboard under that, and washboard is exactly what you do not want under a trailer full of horses. The fix is depth and compaction: limerock base — the Florida standard — built in lifts so it locks up and stays smooth under repeated axle weight.
Entrances take the worst of it. Everything slows, turns, and swings wide at the gate, so we build entrance aprons with extra base depth and enough width to bring a trailer off the road in one motion. Long runs across open ground get a full-length crown so rain sheds off the sides instead of channeling down the wheel tracks, with culvert pipe wherever the drive crosses a ditch or low run. Millings over the rock are an option for a tighter, quieter surface on the main run.
Washboard means the base is moving under load — usually too thin, too loose, or wet underneath. Grading the ripples off is temporary; they come back with traffic. The lasting fix is rebuilding the run with enough compacted limerock for the axle weight and a crown so water is not softening the base from below. Text photos of the worst stretch and we will tell you what it needs.
A new connection to a county-maintained road may require a driveway access permit from Marion County, and the culvert at the roadside ditch is typically part of that. Check with the county before cutting a new entrance. The drive itself, back on your own acreage, is a simpler conversation.
