Inverness is not flat, and driveways there cannot be built like they are. Slopes, rolling ground, and lakeside lots all put water to work against your drive. We build limerock drives that manage that water — Inverness is inside our regular working area.
DRIVEWAYS IN INVERNESS
Around Inverness the ground rolls, and a driveway on a slope is basically a channel unless you build it not to be. Rain picks up speed downhill, finds the wheel tracks, and cuts them into gullies. The answer is shaping: a compacted limerock base — the Florida standard — crowned so water sheds sideways off the drive in short runs instead of racing down the full length of it. On steeper sections, how the water gets off the drive and where it goes next matters as much as the rock itself.
Lakeside lots on the Tsala Apopka chain add their own problem: the access drive drops toward the water, so everything the drive sheds heads downhill toward the house or the shoreline. We grade those drives to move water off early and to the sides, not deliver it to the bottom. Where a drive crosses a ditch or low run, culvert pipe keeps the flow moving under it. Millings are an option for a tighter surface that resists downhill wash better than loose rock.

QUESTIONS
Rain keeps cutting gullies down my sloped drive. Can that actually be stopped?
Yes — it is a shaping problem, not a rock-quantity problem. Water cutting gullies means it is running down the length of the drive. Crowning and breaking the grade sends it off the sides in short runs before it builds speed. Filling the gullies without fixing the shape means filling them again after the next storm.
Do I need a permit for a new driveway in Inverness?
If you are making a new connection to a county-maintained road, Citrus County may require a driveway connection permit — check with the county before cutting in. Inside Inverness city limits the city may have its own say on new connections. Regrading or rebuilding an existing drive on your own property is usually a simpler matter.
