DIRT WORK IN INVERNESS
Inverness isn’t flat, and that changes the job. On rolling ground you’re rarely just spreading dirt — you’re cutting high spots and moving that material into the low ones. Done right, cut-and-fill means you buy less dirt because the site supplies its own. The excavator and dozer handle the cut, the truck moves it, and the same hands run all of it.
Lakeside lots are their own problem. Fill placed near the water has to be benched and compacted so the first hard rain doesn’t carry it down the bank. We place it in lifts, pack it, and grade it so it stays put instead of washing toward the lake. Inverness is inside our regular working area, so slope work in Citrus County is standard business for us.

- Moving dirt on slopes. Machines sized and run for grade work, not just flat-lot spreading.

- Hauling in or hauling off. The dump truck covers whichever way the dirt needs to move.

QUESTIONS
My Inverness lot slopes hard. Do I have to buy fill to level it?
Maybe not all of it. On sloped ground we cut from the high side and use that material on the low side first. You only buy dirt for whatever the site can’t supply. Photos of the slope tell us a lot before we ever roll a machine out.
Can you place fill near the lake without it washing in?
Yes — that’s a placement problem, not a dirt problem. Fill near water gets put down in compacted lifts and graded so runoff sheds across it, not through it. Dumped-and-left dirt is what ends up in the lake.
