How much rock does a driveway need on sandy ground like this?
More than people expect, and it matters that it goes down in compacted lifts instead of one thick dump. On sand, the first lift works into the subgrade and the lifts above it build the actual base. The exact depth depends on your soil and what has to drive on it — a concrete truck is the usual test. We will spec it after we see the ground.
Do I need a permit to cut a new driveway to the road in Weeki Wachee?
If the drive connects to a county-maintained road, Hernando County may require a driveway connection permit for the new access point. Verify with the county before work starts — it is a normal step for new homesites out here, not a roadblock. The drive itself on your own land is your business.
